“Propongo un laboratorio sull’ improvvisazione “non idiomatica”.

Desidero che il mio laboratorio contribuisca a che ogni partecipante possa trovare, precisare o sviluppare il proprio specifico orientamento artistico, o semplicemente stimolare a agire e riflettere artisticamente, nella propria vita. Offro suggerimenti e proposte, ma non insegno. Ognuno e’ invitato ad approfondire il proprio lavoro, in collaborazione con altri.

Il laboratorio e’ aperto a chiunque sia interessato all’improvvisazione. Propongo quindi degli “esercizi” per sviluppare il nostro lavoro. Per esempio, riguardo all’uso della voce, posso in alcuni casi proporre una sorta di creazione da presentare al pubblico. Le proposte dipendono dalla situazione e da chi vi partecipa.

Verranno esplorate alcune nozioni:

Come improvvisare / il processo di lavoro dell’improvvisazione

Come esplorare il se’ interiore, ascoltare il proprio silenzio o solitudine, trovare la propria necessita’ di improvvisare

Come ascoltare gli altri / diversi modi dell’ascolto / Dinamica e statica / Che cosa si puo’ ascoltare? Il luogo, lo spazio, gli altri

Come ascoltare se stessi / come ascoltare gli altri

Si possono immaginare diversi livelli di silenzio

Cos’e’ la necessita’ di cambiamento? L’improvvisazione e’ creare cambiamenti? Perche’? etc..”

Seijiro Murayama - percussionista e batterista, dal 1982 ha lavorato con Fred Frith, Tom Cora, Keiji Haino (fushitsusha),KK.NULL.
Attualmente vive a Berlino e lavora con diverse formazioni\progetti : ANP (Absolut Null Punkt) con KK.NULL, il trio Lo con Thierry Madiot, Pascal Battus e il duo con Eric Cordier (hardy gardy), Jérome Noetinger (dispositivi elettro acoustci), Antez (percussioni), Naoaki Miyamoto (chitarra), Jean-luc Guionnet (alto sax). Seijiro Murayama ha anche collaborato come compositore-musicista con diverse compagnie francesi di danza, teatro, performance (L’Ensemble,  Cie Itra, Sophie Lamarche, Anna Maria Civico,  Bernard Dutheil e Nicolas Desmarchelier). Ha pubblicato con le label giapponesi  Nux Organization e PSF, la tedesca  Dossier e di recente con le etichette francesi Celluloid, La Fraternelle, Sezyme, Azimute, Ektic, Important. seijiromurayama.com

“I propose a workshop on “non-idiomatic” improvisation.

What I hope is that my workshop contributes, in a way, to make each participants to find, to clarify or to develop his or her artistic directions, or simply to make each one want to do things or reflect about things artistically, in one's life. I have suggestions or proposals but I do not teach. Each one should develop one’s work alone, in collaboration with others.

My workshop is open to anyone who is interested in improvisation. For this, I propose some “exercises” to develop our works. For example, by using voice, I propose sometimes a kind of creation to present in public. It depends on the situation and who participates.

Some notions that will be studied:

- How to improvise the working process of improvisation
- How to “dig” the inner self / to listen to one’s silence or solitude to find out one’s necessity of improvising
- How to listen to others / Different ways of listening / Dynamic and static

- What one can try to listen to? Place, space, others…
- How to listen to “oneself” / How to listen to others
- One could imagine different levels of silence
- What is the necessity of changing? Improvising is to make changes? Why? Etc.”

Seijiro Murayama – percussionist, he works in France since 1999, after 20 years of experience in the field of improvised music. His work focus especially on the interaction among music and other artistic activities as: dance (Catherine Diverrès), video (Olivier Gallon), painting (François Bidault), photos (Purpose.fr), litterature, philosophie (Jean-Luc Nancy, Ray Brassier), performance (Diego Chamy) etc. He has been developing numerous musical projects (with Jean-Luc Guionnet, Pascale Criton, Eric Cordier, Eric La Casa, Axel Dörner, Tim Blechmann, Seymour Wright, Toshimaru Nakamura, Toshiya Tsunoda). He consider improvisation as his main artistic issue, thus in public events he applies different approaches. His approach is based on the attention to the space and the place, to spectator’s attention at to quality of silence on different levels (physical, social, ontological). He developed a theoretical reflection regarding the idiomatic and the non-idiomatic - "Idioms and Idiots" (with Jean-Luc Guionnet, Mattin, Ray Brassier 2009). Since 2010 he is curator of the festival " Personal and Collective" in Ljubljana (Slovenia).
